This Privacy Policy applies to all subscribers, customers, and users of Eastel services and Eastel Sites. Eastel is managed by Anchor Communications Sdn. Bhd. (Company No. 1566613-W) and operates as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) under U-Mobile Sdn. Bhd.'s licensed infrastructure. By subscribing to or using Eastel services, you agree to the collection and processing of your personal information as described in this notice.

Key Definitions You Should Know

"Biometric Information" refers to any personal information resulting from technical processing of your physical or behavioural characteristics, including facial image, fingerprint, and voice. "Personal Information" means any information in Eastel's possession or control that relates directly or indirectly to you as an identifiable individual. "Sensitive Personal Information" covers information relating to physical or mental health, political opinions, religious beliefs, or biometric information. "PDPA" refers to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and its subsidiary legislation. "Anchor" or "us" or "we" refers to Anchor Communications Sdn. Bhd. Registration No. 202401020764 (1566613-W).

What Personal Information Eastel Collects

The personal information Eastel may collect includes your name, date of birth, identification documents such as NRIC or passport number, gender, nationality, race, preferred language, marital status, address, email address, telephone number, and biometric information. Eastel may also collect your bank account or payment card details, personal interests and preferences, account information such as reload records and subscription history, survey responses, and image captures through video surveillance cameras.

How and When Eastel Collects Your Information

Eastel may collect your personal information when you communicate with us to become a customer, register or subscribe for mobile data plans or services, request information about products, contact our customer support team, visit any of our offices, branches, service centres, or authorised dealers, enter any contests or promotions, attend our events, submit information through Eastel Sites, apply for a job with us, or when our mobile base stations and equipment collect usage and location-based information.

Purposes for Collecting and Using Your Data

Eastel processes your personal information for the following purposes: to process your application to become a customer or subscriber; to verify your identity and assess creditworthiness; to provide services to you; to conduct billing and provisioning; to protect Eastel's rights and the interests of its customers; to keep you informed about Eastel products, services, offers, and promotions; to understand how customers use Eastel's network and develop relevant products; to derive market insights and conduct research and statistical analysis; to comply with legal and regulatory requirements and assist law enforcement or government agencies; to prevent and detect crime or fraud; to manage and improve Eastel's network, services, and Eastel Sites; and for employment-related purposes where applicable.

Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties

In the course of providing services, Eastel may share your personal information with certain third parties, including credit providers and fraud prevention agencies, business and strategic partners involved in delivering Eastel services, professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, auditors, and tax advisors on a need-to-know basis, debt collection agencies, financial institutions and payment card operators, law enforcement bodies and regulatory or government authorities as required or authorised by law, any organisation that acquires Eastel or its assets, and other service providers for billing and service resolution purposes. If you do not wish to receive marketing communications or wish to withdraw a previously given consent, you may opt out by contacting Eastel through the designated channels. Please note that opting out of marketing communications does not affect service-related communications, which Eastel will continue to send as necessary.

Your Responsibilities as an Eastel Subscriber

As an Eastel subscriber, you are solely responsible for all acts or omissions that occur when using Eastel services. You agree to use Eastel services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) regulations. You must not use Eastel services for any unlawful purpose, to publish defamatory or obscene material, to infringe upon any intellectual property rights, or to post or transmit harassing, abusive, harmful, or objectionable content of any kind.

Eastel's Responsibility for Third-Party Sites

This Privacy Policy applies solely to Eastel Sites and services operated by Anchor Communications. If any part of Eastel Sites links you to third-party sites or services, those sites operate under their own privacy notices and Eastel does not accept responsibility or liability for any personal information you provide on those third-party platforms. Before disclosing personal information on any third-party site linked from Eastel Sites, you are encouraged to review that site's privacy notice. Anchor is also not responsible or liable for any third-party services or products accessed through Eastel services.

How to Delete Your Eastel App Account

Eastel mobile app users may request deletion of their app account directly within the app at any time. To delete your account, open the Eastel App, log in with your Eastel mobile number, then navigate to Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. Account deletion will remove your app access and profile data. Please note that certain subscriber and billing records may be retained as required by Malaysian law and regulatory obligations.
